The pavilion at Union Park will be upgraded with new changing facilities, a first-floor extension and the access to the gym will be improved to allow wheelchair users to use it.

The club have developed a strong pathway across a range of age groups in minis and youth rugby, and also their senior male and female teams. We aim to continue to grow the women’s game in the area and aspire to become recognised as one of Edinburgh’s top five rugby clubs.

The existing changing rooms are not able to effectively accommodate male and female players and will be modernised to inclusively cater for all users. The first floor will have a new gym and a lettable space to allow for increased community engagement.

The SportScotland’s Sport Facilities Fund awards funding to local partners to develop existing facilities or create a new home for sport and physical activity.

This investment has been made possible thanks to National Lottery players, who raise £30 million each week for good causes across the UK.

Welcoming the investment, Steve Wright, from Corstorphine RFC, said “We are very grateful for this funding from sportscotland which will help us provide facilities that are fit for purpose in the 21st century through a once in a generation opportunity to make the club stronger.”

This investment allows us to progress with the build this year and we are now actively looking for builders who would be interested in tendering with a start date in the summer this year.

This comes on the back of the announcement by the SRU that the club would receive £250,000 from its ‘Growth & Participation Fund’ that was established from the £5M Scottish Government funding during the Covid-19 pandemic.
