Following a review by our finance team the club bar will go cashless from this weekend (4th April).
Why are we doing this?
Our finance team have been tracking our cash Cash transactions over the last 2 months and following the review have concluded that we should move to taking card payments only. Cash Represents less that 5% of our spend behind the bar, creates difficulty, added costs and time in putting it in to the bank. Its also safer for our bar staff not to have cash on the premises.
Does it not cost the club more to use a card machine?
No - there are fees associated with cashing money at the bank and we have a very competitive rate on our card readers. Being cashless also allows us ensure clearer VAT compliance and makes our book keeping simpler.
Is it illegal to Cashless?
No - many businesses have gone cashless. Businesses are able to choose the forms of payment they accept. The government does not plan to mandate cash acceptance.
When does this take effect?
Immediately - as its end year for finances it makes sense to do this now.
If you have any further questions or concerns our finance team will be happy to answer them.
Thanks
